Muslim Americans in the Midwest

​My MA thesis on the Muslim Community in Columbus, Ohio explored the local and transnational influences that shaped the community building efforts of central Ohio’s Muslim immigrants from the 1960s to the present. In it I argued that Muslim Americans’ national and ethnic diversity was a central theme in efforts to organize the Muslim community, constituting both an asset and a challenge as they attempted to define themselves as Muslims and as Americans.

​تناولت رسالتي للماجستير الجالية الإسلامية في كولومباس اوهايو والتأثيرات المحلية والعالمية التي شكلت محاولات في بناء مجتمع المهاجرين المسلمين في اوهايو من 1960 الى الوقت الحالي. خُلص هذا البحث إلى أن تنوع الارقي والثقافي للمسلمين الأمريكيين كان لها تاثيرا مركزيا بالنسبة لتنظيم مؤسسات لجالية المحلية، ويُمثّل هذا التنوع من مصدرقوّة وتحدي في محاولتهم لتعريف أنفسهم كمسلمين وأمريكيين.
